Analysis on significance of mineral dehydration

AUTHOR: admin       DATE: 26 Nov 2011 03:04:33

Dewatering is the removal of water from solid material or soil. Mineral dewatering is the removal of water from minerals.

Generally speaking, the ore concentrates classified have some moisture.

1. In the sandstone production line. Because in the line, many ores must be washed or classified, the final ores necessarily include more or less moisture.

2. In the ore dressing line. Whatever flotation process or magnetic process, they both is related with water:

(1)For flotation process (flotation machine), it's obvious. The water weight in ore concentrates of flotation plant is 4~5 times compared with the solid weight.

(2)Magnetic beneficiation (magnetic separator) can be divided into dry and wet ways. So, the water exists in wet beneficiation.

The reasons for mineral dehydration.

1. Transportation. If ore concentrates aren't dewatered, it will be difficult and high-cost.

2. In cold regions, ore concentrates with great moisture shows freezing phenomenon, which isn't helpful for ore concentrates transportation.

3. Not only dewatering for ore concentrates, but also for tailings. The moisture in tailings is almost above 70%. Therefore the tailings dehydration is necessary before entering into tailing warehouse.
